Meet the Educator – Tameka Grimes

Tell us about you and the unique qualities or expertise you have?

Hi, my name is Tameka Grimes. I have been working with families in this line of work for about 11 years. I have been a Parent Educator for almost 4 years now. I come to the table with a background from Early Childhood Intervention. Over my many years in this field, I have gained knowledge about so many things. I am strongest in the understanding of child development and assessments.

What is your favorite part of the service you provide?

I really enjoy what I do. We help people through the journey of parenting which has so many difficulties so it is an amazing feeling to be a part of their support system. My favorite part of the work we do is making the human connection and being a bridge of understanding or connection to someone in need.

When you are not providing services to families, what do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and three beautiful children keep me very busy. We have athletes in the family, so cheering them on a weekend games and tournaments completely fills my heart. Recently I have been doing many DIY and renovation projects in my home which I love. Lastly, I cannot live without my journal. When nothing makes sense in the world, my head or heart I turn to the page and allow everything to pour out through my hand. Journaling is very therapeutic for me.

What is something unique about yourself that you would like other to know?

Something unique about me is that I believe in people and humanity deeply. I believe in the abilities of others and have hope for a future bright then they could even imagine. Even when the entire world seems upside down like it has been for the last year that has not changed. I have an insane ability to be positive and calm is the midst of fire. Oh yeah and I used to be a Diablo girl when they were still the diablos.
